Skimboarding is a sport pretty similar to wave surfing, it takes place near the shore. Basically there are two different types of riding: wave and sand. Wave is where the skimboarder glides out towards a wave, catches it and rides back to shore. Sand skimming is where the skimmer uses the board to ride on a thin layer of water near the shore. We've been skimboarding for seven years now and our experience tells us that you can practice both of the styles in Estonia, given that the conditions are right. We've found good conditions to be in Kakumäe, Stroomi, Nõva, Paradiisirand (cape Ristna) and Vääna.To put it simply, skimboarding is done like this: you run with the board, throw it, jump on and skim. Easy!
